I know we’re all pretty set in our ways when it comes to what we like and dislike. But with each new year come and array of new trends. Some amazing ones that we will love, some average and some not worth taking note of. The 2018 home decor trends are out and I must say that there are many that I absolutely love! Home decor trends are said to be much bolder in 2018. But as always, stay true to what you like whether its a trend or not. If you’re looking at redecorating next year ( which is around the corner), hopefully you can experiment with some of these new trends. Keep reading to see if you find a favourite home decor trend.
With fall and winter came luscious jewel tones, and they are set to stay in 2018. Pantone has announced that Ultra Violet is their colour of the year. Jewel tones pair so well with velvet, which will be another trend making a bold appearance in the new year. So if you’re looking to spruce up an area in your house, but don’t want to do an entire room make over, then reupholstering a chair or couch could instantly up the chic factor. If ultra violet is a bit much for you, then consider lighter tones such as lavender or lilac. For other jewel tones think burnt orange, deep burgundy reds and murky greens.

Bid farewell to stark white cabinets and open shelving. Darker cabinets or hues of grey, blues and creams will be a favourite trend. The Mod Maven’s verdict: it’s a welcome trend that adds a splash of sophistication and style to the kitchen.

Hate it or love it, brass is back bigger and better than ever before. Bid ado to brushed silver tones. Expect to see the aged finish on kitchen cabinets, living room furniture and lighting.

Florals for spring are not groundbreaking. Insert Miranda Priestley’s look of disdain and a sarcastic tone. Although when used in furniture in a very blatant way, they bring a sense of fun and energy to the room. It’s all about which florals you choose and on which furniture you choose to use it. Don’t be afraid to get bold.

Thank goodness for this I say. No longer do we have to shy away from having storage on display. No more sacrificing style for function. Christina Frederick of Anthropolgie says ” Versatile pieces like this tamboured buffet are expanding beyond media and dining rooms for creative placement throughout the home. There seems to be a growing desire for high-end organisation in our personal space, a desire for things—and life—to feel pulled together.”
Black & White
Oh happy days. My inner goth can be released.I for one am really happy about this trend. I love how chic and versatile black and white are. The options for use are endless. It seems that this colour duo will be very well used in 2018 as it is already a top feature in many new collections.
With so many new home decor trends for 2018, I am excited to see how people incorporate them into their homes. My favourites are the jewel tones and uses of velvet, as well as the use of brass. Do you have a favourite?
