I particularly am not the biggest fan of cleaning my house. Its not something I look forward to, but then who does? I try to keep it as clean as possible, but you know, life happens.  That being said I am always on the look-out for brilliant cleaning hacks that will make my life easier and save me time and money.

There are plenty of cleaning hacks out there, some good, some a waste of time and others absolutely amazing and mind-blowing that you wish you knew about them earlier. I’m all about efficiency, and as a  Modern Woman I know that there are honestly not enough hours in the day. Plus we’d rather spend our time on more meaningful things  that bring us joy…. like travelling to amazing destinations or working on our goals. So here are some handy cleaning tips to make the normally uneventful cleaning a little more bearable.

Wear Rubber Gloves For Pet Hair Removal

I adore my fur babies, but their fur can be a bit of a bother sometimes. Sticking to furniture and clothes, it seems to be everywhere. But in order to tackle this problem, you need to nip it in the bud. Get yourself a pair of rubber gloves that you specifically use for your animals. Now stroke them and remove any fur that would fall off. Its a win- win situation because you are spending time with your pet and giving them a little pamper, whilst also removing loose fur.

Clean Your Horizontal Blinds

Cleaning your horizontal blinds can be a bit tricky. They’re positioned awkwardly and can be quite delicate. Yet they seem to be a magnet for attracting dust and dirt. But how do you keep them clean? Simple. You can easily use items you already have in your house. Namely kitchen tongs and a cut-up microfibre cloth. Simply attach the microfibre to the tongs and fasten with an elastic band. You will now be able to clean your blinds with ease.

Get Shining Pots & Pans

After constant use pots and pans begin to lose their shine and become scratched. In order to inject some life pack into your pots and pans you can get them shining and looking as good as new. All you will need is baking soda and vinegar. Pour the baking soda over the bottom of the pot/pan and then add a decent amount of vinegar over the baking soda. Leave for 15 minutes and then rinse with warm water and soap. You will now have shining pots and pans.

Deep Clean Oven Racks

Black stains and grime from spillage and cooking leave oven racks looking less than hygienic. Two ingredients will instantly fix this. Simply use distilled white vinegar and baking soda. You will also need a scrubbing tool to remove all the grime.

Homemade Grout Cleaner

Store bought grout cleaners are filled with nasty chemicals, so why not make your own. It is really easy and you will be saving yourself some money too. You will need a mixture of 3/4 baking soda and 1/4 bleach. Ensure that it is mixed well and that it forms a paste. Apply it to the grout and leave it for 5 minutes. Now scrub it off and rinse and your tiles and grout will be cleaner than ever.

Get A Fresh & Clean Microwave

Ever had a container explode in the microwave? The aftermath seems impossible to clean and you are left with a microwave that is less than clean. This is a great cleaning hack and I wish I knew about it earlier. To clean your microwave fill a bowl with equal parts water and lemon juice. Now microwave for 2- 5 minutes. The water will begin to steam and break down the grime whilst the lemon will help to disinfect and leave your microwave smelling lemony fresh. Remove the bowl and any stains  with a cloth.

Remove Cutting Board Stains

If not cleaned properly and on a regular basis, a cutting board can become a health hazard.  Cut a lemon in half and run it over the board. For an extra deep clean sprinkle salt or baking powder down first.

Bending over to clean your tub can actually be quite difficult for those suffering from back pain. Instead of leaning over and using a  sponge or cloth, use a  broom and some soap or a cleaning agent. This way you will be able to save your back and the process will be a lot quicker. I wish I knew about this hack earlier. I would have saved myself a great deal of back ache!
