I think as women we are always trying to achieve the best clear skin  possible. But unfortunately breakouts can still happen regardless of how clean your diet is and how much exercise you are doing.  If you don’t suffer from breakouts then you will want to keep your skin looking as youthful and in the best condition possible anyway.

So to help you get the best skin possible, I’ve gathered some tips and tricks that are easy and can effortlessly be incorporated into your daily life. Let me know what you think!

Wash Your Face Before Bed

No matter how tired you are, always make sure to wash your face before bed. When I was a teenager I read somewhere that sleeping with your makeup on can age you. So still till this day no matter how tired I am, I always ensure to remove all my makeup before I go to bed. In particular I like to double cleanse    because this means that I am able to remove all my makeup. During the day your skin is exposed to so many toxins and pollutants, so having a shower too will help you get overall clear skin.

Drink Water

I know you’re rolling your eyes as you’ve heard this a million times. But honestly, water is so important for clear skin and general skin health. The skin is the largest organ in the body and requires a lot of water to remain in tip-top condition.  Water will help flush all the toxins out of your body, and will actually make you feel more energised. If you don’t like the taste of water then spruce it up by adding some fruit, mint or lemon for some extra taste.

Mask It Up & Moisturise

Applying an overnight mask before you go to bed can really help to moisturise your skin. You’ll wake up with plump, moisturised skin without having to have done much!

Exfoliate, Exfoliate, Exfoliate

Exfoliating is so important for healthy-looking skin. The problem is that you more than likely have been using a very course exfoliant or a diy scrub, right? This is not good for your skin as, as the skin starts to show signs of aging, the harsh granular exfoliants tear your skin. Aging skin is more susceptible to tearing . You are better off using Alpha Hydroxy Acids or AHA’s. You can find which one is best for you here.  Exfoliating your face is important, as is exfoliating your body. Dry brushing will help to remove dead skin cells and help improve circulation. It is advised that you dry brush every day. I have started doing this and honestly love it now. At first it felt strange but I have gotten used to it.If you’re new to dry brushing you can see this post.

Clean Diet

What we put into our bodies will reflect on the outside. I’m sure you have heard ” You are what you eat.” So if you are eating lots of greasy, sugary food then you are more likely to breakout. Here are some tasty and easy to make recipes that are healthy and good for your skin.

You Are What You Eat.

Exercise

Not only is exercise good for your general well-being, but it is also important for clear skin. It is important to sweat. Just make sure that you wash your face and have a shower immediately after exercising as staying in sweaty clothes and having a sweaty face could lead to acne and breakouts.

Change Your Pillow Case

Your breakouts could be caused by oil, sweat and dirt  on your pillows. In order to keep your skin as clear as possible, ensure that you change your pillow case every 2-3 days.

DIY Steam

Steaming is a great way to open your pores and get rid of excess dirt and oil. An extra benefit of steaming is that its really cheap. All you need is hot water and some essential oils. Fill the basin up with hot water, pop in some essential oils and lean over and cover your head with a towel. Stay there for 2-3 minutes. Remember to moisturise after steaming as to lock in the nutrients.

Hands Off

This may be a little tricky and maybe you are oblivious as to how often you touch your face with your hands. By making a concerted effort to keep your hands off your face you will not be adding toxins, dirt and oil to your skin. Therefore giving you clearer and healthier skin.

Wash Your Makeup Brushes

Over time your makeup brushes will get really dirty. And by applying makeup with a dirty brush you are clogging your pores which will lead to breakouts.

To keep your skin clear and to care for your brushes try this. Place a small amount of face wash in the palm of your hand. Take a makeup brush that is slightly damp and rub it in your hand in circular motions. Do this until the brush is clean. Rinse and allow to dry.

SPF

Wearing a good SPF is so important to protect your skin. Harmful UV rays can really damage your skin. Be sure to wear a sunscreen that is suitable for your skin type. An oily sunscreen can really clog your pores and cause breakouts.
